Wish Trip Day 0/1

Yay!  Charlotte's wish trip is finally here!  Can't believe we are actually going!

In typical Lageston fashion, it was not without a little last minute drama!  The week before we were supposed to leave, Charlotte comes down with a fever.  I take her in for usual blood cultures and antiobiotics.  Sure enough, we get the call that Charlotte has to be admitted.  She tested positive for Streptococcus in her blood.  We were admitted for Friday and Saturday night, and they let us go home Sunday to come back daily for antibiotics.  We finished up on Friday, and they decided to keep her on penicillin orally for the trip.  Her neutrophils were pretty low (0.48), but we could still go.  Yep, no worries.  Usually we would be bubble bound, but we were on our way, on an airplace, to the busiest place on earth - Disney World on Spring Break!  (At least we were on chemo hold for the week, so didn't have to pack any chemo with us!).

We had her wear a mask in the airport and getting onto/off of the plane.  But otherwise, we tried not to stress too much.  Fortunately, we made it through the trip fever free!  Whew!

The flight was delayed 2 hours, but that was fine, the kids were excited, and got extra time to run around the airport and get a toy for the plane.  They were pretty good on both flights, and both managed a nap!  We were met by a greeter at the airport who walked us our rental car, gave us directions to Give Kids the World Village and some tips for the trip.

It was a short drive to the village, where the kids were greeted with a Mickey Mouse for Charlotte and Shamu for Nathan!  It was past dinner time, but they had a meal for us to take back to our villa.  We got all settled into our place for a good sleep!

all packed up and ready to go!

Waiting for us in our villa was a present from Le Top.  They are the makers of Charlotte's coveted blanket.  We had two blankies up until just before Christmas, but on one of our many trips to the hospital, one went missing.  Having a spare blankie for a sick kid is a no-brainer.  We can't tell you how much it means to have a clean blanket on hand at all times.  So we were in despair being down to one.  In an effort to find a spare, I emailed the company.  Although they don't make the blanket anymore, the company found one in storage and sent it to the village for us!  Thank you Le Top!

Our Villa was beautiful!  It had just gone through renovations a month earlier with Extreme Makeover!

Day 1
I attended orientation to get all our passes to the parks and info on the village.  After, we spent the morning exploring the resort!  Went fishing which was so much fun!  Charlotte LOVED the live bait, and kept 6 of the worms as pets the rest of the week (they stayed on our patio)!  We may have to get some pet worms when we get home.  Nathan checked out the pool while Charlotte continued fishing with Daddy.  We had our first of many rides on the carousal, and after a little rest in our room, we went to Seaworld.

Carousal - Nathan always rode the turtle, I think Charlotte tried almost every animal by the end of the trip.

Charlotte's worms

Nathan loved chocolate chip mint!

We didn't get there till around 4:30.  Saw that the last Dolphin feeding was at 4:30.  I figured we missed it, but we raced over there anyway.  Saw the rope was already up, but thought we could just watch.  Someone saw Charlotte's 'Give Kids the World' button, and she was ushered in and given 4 trays of fish to feed the dolphins!  So much fun!  Charlotte liked the turtles the best.  Stayed till about 8pm.  All in all a great first day!

Our first 'character' meeting.  Nathan was tentative, wouldn't hug them, but Loved them!

So cool - feeding the dolphins - Nathan had a turn too!  After feeding, the trainer had the dolphins roll right up to Charlotte and Nathan, and had them wave at them - some extra special attention!

It's great that your family got to see all the wonderful things
at the village.
Are you the Stefan Lageston that
